Fire to 750t Crane

A 750 ton crane caught fire whilst travelling to site on the motorway. The driver had noted flames emanating from behind his cab and quickly exited before the fire engulfed it.

The ferocity of the fire was such that the crane was written off as uneconomical to repair, The salvage was disposed of through our salvage auction facility to an overseas buyer and a prompt settlement agreed with the owner to enable his business to quickly restore normal operations.

A detailed claim and forensic investigation was undertaken which concluded that a fuel pipe had been incorrectly fitted which was agreed as a design fault, the fault was also prevalent on two further cranes.

A full recovery of Insurers outlay was achieved.
